Shots in the Night

This troupe has been entertaining KKFI’s listeners since 2010.  It is all local, all home grown.  Writers, actors, technicians, and producers are local artists and artisans, some of whom have day jobs!  They have an eclectic, if somewhat erratic, outlook on life and what you think is funny.  Still, on the second Thursday of each month, you’ll find them in this time slot on the Thursday Night Special.

Hosts:

Thursday Night Special

Thursday nights are special!
First Thursday: Jasmine Jones hosts Next Step Forward, a spotlight on millennials of Kansas City who are within a marginalized group, but are using their talents, business, activism etc. to help bring positivity within their communities. This program exists to be a place that is inclusive, safe, fun, inspirational and educational not only for the listeners but for the guest as well.

Second Thursday: Shots in the Night radio theatre, hosted and produced by various members of Shots In The Night.

Third Thursday: Stand Up! Produced by the KKFI Racial Justice Initiative. Hosted by various guests.

Fourth Thursday: We say goodbye to River City Chautauqua; producer Julie Bennett Hume in August 2021.  She will be replaced by Jay Hawkins with Changing Narratives, a program of guest interviews and topics that seek to expand the view that many have about African Americans. Subjects will include current events, mental health, political science, the arts, history and many more.

Fifth Thursday beginning July 31, 2021: From Ark to Microchip;  producer Dwight Frizzell
