A lifelong lover of theater and one-time lighting designer for Philadelphia’s Society Hill Playhouse, Valerie has been involved in one way or another since high school. As a KKFI Active Member and Foolkiller Folk programmer, Valerie is thrilled to also be a producer of Kansas City Actors Radio Theater!
Following early exposure to folk music in a series of East Coast coffeehouses, Valerie has been a long time fan, promoter and concert producer of local, national and international Celtic and American Trad. A member of the original foolkiller and former past President of both the Missouri Valley Folklife Society and CrossCurrents (not to mention a KKFI listener from the very beginning), she first got involved at the station as a substitute host for Foolkiller Folk and, with her husband Mark, eventually ended up as a part of the regular Foolkiller Folk collective. A KKFI 90.1 FM Active Member, Valerie is a committed station volunteer and financial supporter and has served on a number of committees and the Board. She & Mark still produce the occasional house concert and their house is always open to Trad musicians passing through.
Kansas City Actors Radio Theatre presents new performances of classic radio plays of intrigue, mystery, suspense, and comedy from the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s in rotation with a 10-part original historical drama written by local playwright, actor, and director Forrest Attaway. Featuring local actors and musicians and hosted by actors John Rensenhouse, Cinnamon Schultz, and Walter Coppage.
