The Riwaq Centre for Architectural Conservation in Ramallah

We hear portions of a conversation between Hanan Awad and Dr Suad Amiry.  Awad is a guest host on Arab Voices, a program on Houston’s community radio KPFT.  Dr Suad Amiry is an award-winning Palestinian architect, author, and community leader.  More than 30 years ago, in 1991, Dr Amiry founded the Riwaq Centre for Architectural Conservation in Ramallah, the first of its kind, to work on the rehabilitation and protection of architectural heritage in Palestine.  Among her many publications is Sharon and My Mother-In-Law, a collection of personal anecdotes about her life during the 2nd Intifada. Dr Amiry is a gifted storyteller. The stories she shares help us understand Israel/Palestine and give us hope for the future.

But first we summarize observations from two journalists who expressed their fears that violence against Palestinians may soon escalate into something much more devastating.
