Art of the Song 06-28

Our guest this week on Art of the Song is Jono Manson. Jono is a prolific singer/songwriter and seasoned performer, with a track record that includes major-label releases as both artist and producer. In the 1980s and 90s, he was known as the godfather of New York City’s famed Nightingale Bar scene, that kickstarted the careers of Blues Traveler, Spin Doctors, and Joan Osborne, among others. Jono’s 10th solo album, Silver Moon, winds through reflective Americana, gritty R&B, and raunchy rock n’ roll. You might say it’s like a night of music at the Nightingale, with friends like Warren Haynes, Joan Osborne, and Eric Schenkman sitting in.

Jono Manson was touring in Italy during the beginning of the Coronavirus outbreak. Upon returning home to New Mexico, he self-quarantined for 14 days. We talked with Jono remotely about his experience and the songs he wrote during the period of isolation.
