Producer/host of KKFI ‘s Under The Radar, John Thompson Todd (John Todd – The Radio God) takes over ARTSPEAK RADIO with guests that include Bruce Young Co-owner Aztec Theater in Shawnee,KS, singer/songwriter Jake Wells, and Katie Mabry Van, owner/operator Strawberry Swing Indie Craft Fair.

JOHN TODD’S Under The Radar can be heard every Sunday night, 8pm – 1pm on 90.1 fm KKFI Kansas City Community Radio. John has made it his personal mission to unearth Kansas City’s best musicians by giving them the airplay they deserve. On his program, anything goes, from rock to country, folk to funk, there’s something here for all.

BRUCE YOUNG – Aztec Theater is located at 11119 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas, is a 1927 historic theater, originally opened as The Mission Theater as a silent movie house. It was renamed as The Aztec in 1949. Co-owner Bruce Young remembers attending movies as a youngster in the 50’s. It closed in 1975 and will re-open as a live music venue. Upon completion, The Aztec GroupLLC plans to make arrangements to get the Aztec Theater on the National Register of Historic Places.

JAKE WELLS music has created music untethered to any one genre since his youth. From folk ballads to neo-soul pop songs, Jake’s drive as a songwriter, producer, and artist is resolute and unyielding. Jake was born in Niceville, FL to a family of musicians, with whom he spent his childhood recording and performing across the nation. He later hitchhiked around the United States, determined to find his voice, and in 2016 released his first of many self-produced tracks, “Roll Like Thunder,” in Kansas City, MO. The immediate success of his debut single gained Wells hundreds of thousands of global listeners, and he was invited to appear on NBC’s television show “The Voice” (Season 15), further growing his fanbase. Leveraging the diverse talents of his musical team, Jake developed a new sound which has been described as “Funkadelic Bluesy-eyed Soul Rock.”
With the 2020 release of his new EP ‘Sunday Morning’, Independent artist Jake Wells, will embark on a Spring and Summer tour, ready to explode a new sound, full of soul, dynamic vibes and authentic, radical roots.
