BRANDON HARALSON, Communications Manager, Engagement & Public Policy ArtsKC- ArtsKC has developed programs and services designed to “unleash the power of the arts.” This includes programs for the arts community, the business community, and services to the civic community. Each specific program or service we provide to artists, arts organizations or the community at large was developed to address a need within our local arts ecology. ArtsKC continually assesses and adjusts our services to respond to the needs of our growing arts community.

OUR MESSAGE We Promote, Support and Advocate for the arts. We are a nonprofit organization serving the five-county region- Clay, Platte and Jackson in Missouri; Johnson and Wyandotte in Kansas. Promote the individual, community, social, and economic benefits of the arts by advancing inclusive engagement throughout the region. Support artists and art organizations by providing expert business and financial resources that equitably grow their professional capacity. Advocate for the arts through education and awareness, building robust relationships with cross sector leaders, innovators and officials.

POET TL SANDERS-Jan. 10th TL Sanders will perform for Jay Mcshann’s Big Birthday Bash at the American Jazz Museum, sharing the stage with Pianist Joe Cartrwight and his Trio. www.kansascity.eventful.com/events/jay-mcshann-birthday-bash-/E0-001-132849157-9 Feb. 10th Sanders performs a solo show, a rendition of kNew: The Screenplay, at Missouri Western State University. (As well, their creative writing courses have included my poetry book in the curriculum.) Feb. 15th Sanders will perform at the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art with choreographer Tristian Griffin. Mar. 21st SandersI will perform his solo show at Union Station on the City Stages stage.

MASON ANDREW KILPATRICK, Marketing & Communications Manager Charlotte Street Foundation- Charlotte Street Foundation identifies the needs and fuels the evolution of an ever-changing multidisciplinary arts ecosystem, acting as its primary provocateur. Charlotte Street cultivates the contemporary, the exceptional, and the unexpected in the practice of artists working in and engaging with the Kansas City art community. Since 1997, Charlotte Street has distributed over $1.1 million in awards and grants to artists and their innovative projects, and connected individual artists to each other and to the greater Kansas City community. Making Moves aims to kick off 2020 on the right start with an Improv Jam! The Jam will be open to movers of all backgrounds and abilities. Improvisation of scores, music, and community building are all heavily encouraged. Start the season off on a right foot and collaborate with peers and new friends in Kansas City.
The event is FREE and open to the public. All ages are welcome. Doors open at 7:00 and the performance starts at 7:30pm. Performances are hosted at Capsule, a contemporary performing arts space located at 1664 Broadway Blvd, Kansas City, MO. The venue is to the left of Los Tules on Broadway Blvd!
A monthly gathering, Making Moves provides a platform for local movers and makers to create, produce, and share new choreographic works. Making Moves aims to build community through a shared passion for dance and movement. The series is produced by Kyle Mullins and made possible by Charlotte Street Foundation.
Rocket Grants Director Julia Cole has vacated her position after a decade in that role. Launched in 2009, The Rocket Grants program is “a partnership between the Charlotte Street Foundation in Kansas City, MO and the Spencer Museum of Art at KU in Lawrence, KS, with funding from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.“
Charlotte Street Foundation and BOK Financial are excited to announce the artists who have been selected to participate in the 2020-2021 Crossroads Artboards. The Artboards are located above BOK Financial’s branch in the heart of Kansas City’s Crossroads District at 125 Southwest Blvd, Kansas City, MO. Eight different works will be featured for three months each.
The artists selected were Megan Pobywajlo + Max Wagner, Megan Ganey, Joe Bussell, Kylie McConnell, Davin Watne, Alonso Ortega, Diana Heise, and Lauren Phillips.
The artists will exhibit their commissioned images on the exterior, double-sided billboards rising above BOK Financial at 125 Southwest Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri. The Artboards will be visible to the public all hours of the day, and will remain on view for three months.
The 2020-2021 Artboards schedule is as follows (subject to change):
March – May: Megan Pobywajlo + Max Wagner and Megan Ganey
June – August: Joe Bussell and Kylie McConnell
September – November: Davin Watne and Alonso Ortega
December 2020 – February 2021: Diana Heise and Lauren Phillips
