Artspeak Radio presents Ballet Nepantla and Bill Sundahl

Wednesday September5, 2019 noon – 1pm CST 90.1fm Kansas City Community Radio, streaming live audio at www.kkfi.org

Producer/host Maria Vasquez Boyd welcomes Artistic Director Andrea Guajardo of Ballet Nepantla and KKFI Development Director Bill Sundahl.

ANDREA GUAJARDO, Artistic Director of Ballet Nepantla-Ballet Nepantla presents Valentina, a collection of stories that speak to the strength and resilience of women during Revolutionary Mexico. By fusing contemporary ballet with traditional Mexican folklórico, Valentina shares struggles and triumphs—and explores the spaces between love and hate, hope and despair.
Part contemporary ballet, part traditional folklórico, ‘Valentina’ speaks to the strength of women in Revolutionary Mexico.

“…the show will counter unflattering narratives about Mexican and Mexican-American communities…the beauty of the dance will be like a bridge that connects people…”
