As the nation’s official Great War museum, the National World War I Museum is the center for centennial commemoration activities in the U.S. In addition to the host of public programs, exhibitions, lectures and events in conjunction with the centennial at the Museum, several organizations in the greater Kansas City area have been offering World War I-related programming as the world marks the anniversary of the Great War.
Lora Vogt, museum curator of education, will discuss this collaboration and programming at the museum. Jan Schall, Sanders Sosland curator, modern art at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, will talk about the exhibition World War I and the Rise of Modernism, which is open through July 19. Deborah Sandler, general director and CEO of Lyric Opera of Kansas City, will focus on the upcoming production of Silent Night, which opens Feb. 21.
