LON DAVIS-Walkin’ & Rollin’ Costumes is a Kansas City-based non-profit organization that builds custom-made costumes for kids in walkers and wheelchairs. With the help of volunteers and donations, Walkin’ & Rollin’ Costumes is able to build and ship these costumes free of charge to families across the nation. In the past, wheelchair costumes consisted of popular characters and vehicles from Wall-E, Toy Story, the Marvel Cinematic World, Big Hero 6, various Princesses, a Butterfly Queen, KC Royals players, Ant-Man, Back to the Future, and Star Wars. If you would like to learn more about Walkin’ & Rollin’ Costumes, view their gallery of costumes and designs, order a costume, donate, or possibly volunteer as a builder, visit their website at www.WalkinRollin.org.

Lon Davis has been building wheelchair costumes for over 11 years for his son, Reese, who has been in a wheelchair since the age of 3. In 2015, after getting numerous requests for wheelchair costumes from strangers all over the nation, Lon and Reese decided to build the non-profit, Walkin’ & Rollin’ Costumes. Since they started, they have built over 75 wheelchair costumes for kids anywhere in the United States, and they have continued to keep them free of charge to the families receiving them. Now, in their 5th year, they work with high schools and middle schools to build these costumes as part of their STEM/STEAM program making them as part of their curriculum. They have partnered with advertising agencies, engineering teams, scout groups, 4H teams and many other groups who have wanted to tackle this fun and exciting project for kids in their area of the country. This Halloween, they plan to build their 100th costume for kids.
