DAVID TOMAS MARTINEZ is the author of two collections of poetry, Hustle (2014) and Post Traumatic Hood Disorder (2018), both from Sarabande Books. Martinez is a Pushcart winner, CantoMundo fellow, a Breadloaf Stanley P. Young Fellow, Verlaine Poetry Award winner, NEA poetry fellow and NEA Big Book author.

POPPY DI CANDELORO is the new Director of the Center for Arts and Letters and the Greenlease Gallery at Rockhurst University. With extensive experience as an arts advisor, curator, and educator, she is dedicated to enhancing community engagement through art and culture.

The Center for Arts and Letters was founded in 1989 and serves as the organizational hub and central resource for arts and humanities public programming at Rockhurst. Programming includes a Film Series, a Visiting Lecture Series, Musica Sacra, the Greenlease Art Gallery, and the Midwest Poets Series.
The Midwest Poets Series enhances the literary and intellectual lives of Rockhurst University, the Kansas City community, and the surrounding region. Our events are free, in person, and open to all. The Missouri Arts Council and Center for Arts and Letters provide support for the Midwest Poets Series.

The event with David Tomas Martinez is on Thursday, November 7, at 6:30p.m. in the Arrupe Hall auditorium located on the Rockhurst University campus. Following the reading, there will be a short Q&A, a book signing and reception in the Lobby of Arrupe Hall.

MICHAEL BAXLEY, Englewood Arts is a new and innovative nonprofit organization focused on creating a diverse and sustainable community in harmony with the arts. Englewood Arts is a two-prong organization. The first phase of our project is to renovate a recently purchased three-story 30,000 square foot former medical building into a community-based arts center that will provide programming for all ages in performing, culinary, and visual arts. The second phase will address affordable and sustainable housing that will complement and play a part in supporting the arts center on-going.
