MICHAEL VANCE TOOMBS is an accomplished painter, art activist, and founder and CEO of Storytellers Inc.- Artist Collective.  Mr. Toombs is a community leader and champion for young people and working artists in the Greater Kansas City area. His work has involved thousands of young people, and over 30 years of service in connecting art and community. Michael began as a young student with Matthew Monks at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. He furthered his study through classes at the Kansas City Art Institute and completed a business entrepreneurial course of study through Donnelly College, Kansas City, Kansas.  For nearly a decade Michael worked in the corporate world for GEHA Insurance helping to create the company’s customer service department, handling 3500 calls a day with 75 customer service representatives. Michael left corporate life to develop his own business in the belief that, ”Art is a change-agent for society’s difficulties.”  Michael’s art form is “interactive community based art.”  You can see the murals Michael has coordinated and directed throughout Kansas and Missouri including: The Brown Vs. Board of Education Mural in Topeka, the Downtown/Bartle Hall Series in the lower level of Bartle Hall, and many others throughout Kansas City. As Executive Director of Storytellers Inc, Michael has developed contracts and projects with: University of Missouri; Wichita State University; Environmental Protection Agency; Accessible Arts; Bartle Convention Center; Olorun Foundation in Burkina Faso in West Africa; Kansas City Kansas Public Schools; Kansas City Kansas Housing Authority; Jackson County Family Courts; C.O.M.B.A.T; Jackson County Prosecutors Office; The Kansas City Missouri Mayor’s Office; Kansas City Missouri Police Department; ArtsTech; InterUrban ArtHouse; 18th and Vine Jazz District, ArtsConnect Topeka, Kansas City Museum, and the University of Kansas Office of Cultural Enhancement and Inclusion K-12 initiative.

EBONY M. JOHNSON is host and producer of one of KKFI’s newest public affairs shows, Ebony’s Bones, which airs every ‪Wednesday night at 6:00 PM (CST)‬. Ebony is a natural conversationalist, she nourishes kitchen table conversations that seek to explore black folk, question what we’ve been told to believe and decolonize. Though native to Kansas City, she has lived, studied and worked throughout the United States. Ebony received her Bachelor’s degree in Arts from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, and her Masters degree in Arts from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida. With her MBA Ebony is an arts and entrepreneurial advocate who thrives on making connections and a beautiful life.
