Benmont Tench

Our guest this week on Art of the Song is Benmont Tench. You may not have heard of him, but chances are, you have heard him. He’s best known as the keyboard player and founding member of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. As a sought-after session musician, he’s played on tracks by artists as varied as Johnny Cash, Bonnie Raitt, Bob Dylan, Green Day, Sheryl Crow, and the Rolling Stones. After over 50 years of playing professionally, Benmont has released his first solo album, You Should Be So Lucky, on Blue Note Records
