The One Kansas City Radio Spotlight is collection of programming produced and broadcasted by One Kansas City Radio (KONN-LP 100.1 FM).
In Part 1, Leslie Scott sits down with the folks at City In Motion and the Linwood YMCA. City in Motion is one of Kansas City’s longest running contemporary dance organizations. It is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization headquartered in the heart of Kansas City, MO, with a mission of fostering development of high quality contemporary dance programming and expanding the dance audience in KC. This mission includes dance education for all ages and skill levels. Their vision is a world where ”Dance is for Everybody”. City in Motion is comprised of three different areas: a professional dance company; a school of dance; and a youth dance theater. City In Motion has partnered with the Linwood YMCA.
In Part 2, Leslie has an interesting conversation about “Future of US” – “Future Of Us” was founded in Kansas City, Missouri by three Ruskin High School graduates; each of whom went on to graduate college where they identified a disparity in the amount of collegiate opportunities and support for students from more affluent communities than their own. The Future of Us has the objective of strengthening the financial and structural support network in communities lacking collegiate influence by investing in students by offering finances, time, guidance, leadership, support and encouragement for their academic goals.
