Craig Volland, Agriculture Committee Chair of the Kansas Sierra Club, warns us of CAFOs

Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) issued permits to the operators of four hog operations on two sites in Phillips and Norton Counties in Kansas and the Kansas Sierra Club filed for judicial review of that permit.

On 12/6/19, the Kansas Sierra Club prevailed in the case.  Craig Volland, Agriculture Committee Chair of the Kansas Sierra Club was instrumental in providing the judge with the information needed to reverse the KDHE permits.   On EcoRadio KC, Craig Volland is our guest and he will discuss that case.  Our discussion will plow deeply into modern agriculture methods employed to produce food and we will examine whether those methods produce healthy foods we can consume in a liveable environment.   Craig Volland has knowledge of and helped establish regulations to protect our food from business operations that foul our air and water.   Craig Volland has not rested in his drive to have those regulations applied from farm to table.  He knows, and he will share with us, that agriculture produces nourishment but also contaminants.
