Drug Warriors and Their Prey: From Police Power to Police State – a talk with Local Author Richard Lawrence Miller

Host Jessica Thomas talks with local author, Richard Lawrence Miller about his book  Drug Warriors and Their Prey: From Police Power to Police State and his involvement with the film it inspired.  His book starts with the premise that the war on drugs is a war on ordinary people and explains how law enforcement and the courts have destroyed the guilty and innocent alike.  He also shows how anti democratic forces are using fear to convince us to give up our constitutional rights.

Richard will also talk about his involvement with Director Eugene Jarecki’s anti-drug war film The House I Live In, opening at the Tivoli on January 11 and winner of the grand jury prize for best documentary at the 2012 Sundance film festival.  You can find movie times and information about the film at www.tivolikc.com/
