Jaws of Justice Radio investigates how we can achieve justice from a system of laws deeply rooted in economic, social and political inequality. We want to dispel misconceptions created by the news and entertainment industry, politicians and our educational system. We hope you will listen.
Join host Bev Livingston as she speaks with Gwen Smith-Moore, a St. Louis native who joined Empower Missouri in June 2022 as the Criminal Justice Policy Manager. Over the past 8 years, she has worked in various capacities with justice-involved community members. Gwen has managed direct service and reentry housing programs, provided direct support to individuals incarcerated in jail and prison, and led local efforts to coordinate reentry support services. Bev and Gwen will update listeners on Summit highlights, provide upcoming year information, legislative issues and tell us of any calls to action.
We will play our calendar at the midpoint of the hour.
During the second half of our hour, host Terri Wilke will speak with Janelle Johnson. This will be a follow-up from our program about the Victims Services Department at the Jackson County Prosecutor’s office. Janelle will share her experience with the Prosecutor’s office, as well as the Kansas City Police Department and the Raytown police.
On Jaws of Justice, we examine how to find justice in our society. Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.
