EcoRadio KC is glad to encourage awareness and protection of our world. Our goal is to ensure our listeners are aware of how we can create a sustainable present for a sustainable future! It will take us all to make the world safe for habitation for millennia to come. This will be a great radio hour!
Host Terri Wilke speaks with her guest, Maxfield Kaniger, CEO of Kanbe’s Markets. In 2016, he founded Kanbe’s Markets in an effort to bring fresh, healthy and affordable food to low-income neighborhoods where it is lacking, otherwise known as “food deserts.” Kanbe’s Markets is a non-profit organization formed to improve food access in communities throughout Kansas City. Kanbe’s collaborates with locally owned Corner Stores in the food deserts to bring fresh produce to these areas.
Recently, Max attended the Grocery Retail for All Summit in Washington DC, which featured the Global Food Institute, Food Systems for the Future and Chef Jose Andres, founder of the World Central Kitchen Summit.
We are looking forward to discussing food availability, affordability, and accessibility with Max Kanbe. He will tell us about the groundbreaking new report which explores creative solutions to the challenges faced by grocery operators in underserved communities across the United States. It offers actionable insights and strategies for ensuring affordable, accessible, and nutritious food for all.
