On our program for July 10th, host Elyse Max will speak with Michelle Smith, Founder of Missouri Justice Coalition.
The Missouri Justice Coalition website is
Elyse and Michelle will speak about the recent filings in the case of Maurice T. Davis, a wrongfully convicted man in Jackson County. In 2004, he was wrongly convicted as an accessory to a 1997 double homicide in Kansas City, Missouri. He received a sentence of life without parole and is currently confined at the Jefferson City Correctional Center.
Listeners will also learn more about the work of the MO Justice Coalition and how to get involved with their work reforming the criminal legal system in Missouri.
We will play our calendar at the midpoint of the hour. Items in the calendar can also be found on this episode’s page on the KKFI website, KKFI.org, and also on the Jaws of Justice Radio Facebook page.
Next, listeners will hear host Terri Wilke’s interview with Stephenie Godfroy, who is with Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a very active group of mothers, and others, a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for public safety measures that can protect people from gun violence. More people die from gun violence by early February in the United States than during an entire calendar year in other high-income countries.
This interview was conducted in late May of this year, just before the annual Moms Demand Action Wear Orange national event which occurs every first weekend of June to honor victims of gun violence.
On Jaws of Justice, we examine how to find justice in our society. Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.
