From the Vault: (2003) 100 year publication-anniversary of The Souls of Black Folk

In 2003, The Pacifica Radio Archives celebrated the 100 year anniversary of W.E. B DuBois landmark publication The Souls of Black Folk, by producing a TWO Hour special narrated by actress Alfre Woodard. This program features Pacifica’s 1953 interview with W.E.B. Dubois.

Special guests who spoke about the impact of The Souls of Black Folk include Dr. Cornel West, Congresswomen Maxine Waters and Diane Watson of Los Angeles. You’ll hear Historian Playthell Benjamin a longtime host at WBAI and author of Revisiting the Souls of Black Folk with co author Stanley Crouch.

Also featured are comments from author and Professor Gerald Horne who has written many Books on the Lives of Black Folk including Black and Red: W.E.B.
