From the Vault: 50th Anniversary Mississippi Freedom Summer 1964-2014

This week The Pacifica Radio Archives presents the best of these new Mississippi Freedom Summer recordings.

Pacifica Radio was there to record the voices from those involved in the voter registration movement in the Mississippi Delta Region in the early 1960’s.

In one particular documentary, simply called The Mississippi Delta from January of 1964, you will get a rare glimpse at the incredible effort and sacrifices made to register African Americans to vote in a region where they had been historically disenfranchised.

You will also hear from the voices that tried their best to prevent this from happening.
