From the Vault: Anna Karenina 1974

Produced by Ruth Seymour at Pacifica’s station KPFK in Los Angeles on the occasion of the centennial of the novel’s original publication in 1874, Anna Karenina took over forty hours to record and was presented in serial form, with musical interludes selected by famed KPFK music director Mario Cassetta. After a present-day recording by Ruth Seymore of her original written 1974 folio introduction for the production, we’ll hear a sampling of the more than 100 actors and actresses who participated, starting with Henry Fonda on page one.
