Gordon Lightfoot Spotlight, Keith Ladd and Billy Brady of Whiskey Mash Bluegrass Band

It’s a trifecta of great music this week (and every week) on the Tasty Brew Music Radio Show!  In addition to spotlighting the amazing Gordon Lightfoot who has passed onto the other side of the ether, Host Diana Linn welcomes Keith Ladd and Billy Brady of the Whiskey Mash Bluegrass Band.

Gordon Meredith Lightfoot Jr. … a Canadian singer-songwriter and guitarist who achieved international success in folkfolk-rock, and country music. He is credited with helping to define the folk-pop sound of the 1960s and 1970s. He has been referred to as Canada’s greatest songwriter and his songs have been recorded by some of the world’s most renowned musical artists. This week’s playlist will include Lightfoot covers from Eva Cassidy, Nanci Griffith, The Punch Brothers, Waylon Jennings and Sarah McLachlan.  Lightfoot’s biographer Nicholas Jennings said, “His name is synonymous with timeless songs about trains and shipwrecks, rivers and highways, lovers and loneliness.”

Keith Ladd, a firefighter by day and guitar slinger by night, will be in the studios with his dad to bring the word about a May 13 Pleasant Hill fundraiser in support of Camp Quality, a summer camp program that was a favorite of Keith’s sister, a childhood cancer survivor who tragically passed away unexpectedly this past January from a stroke.

Billy Brady, front man for the Whiskey Mash Bluegrass Band, will be in the studios to celebrate Whiskey Mash helping to open the outdoor concert season at Lemonade Park this Friday, May 5….just in time for Cinco de Mayo! Billy Brady was given his nickname ‘Bluegrass’ by his close family and friends. He’s a first generation musician with high hopes and goals set for his career. Born to a blue collar family that works as construction workers. Raised in Dearborn, MO. until his parents moved back to the Kansas City when he was about 5 years old. Billy began playing guitar at age of 16, learning from his close friends in the neighborhood.
