How We Spent Our Folk Alliance, Part 2 (Mark & Val)

The Folk Alliance Conference is the world’s largest gathering of the folk music industry and community. This year it was held in Feb here in KC and, as always, we heard way more music than we could fit into one Foolkiller Folk show.

We start off our second program with the wonderful songwriter Amy Speace. Sadly, Mark came down sick with an unidentified bug after her showcase, so the rest of this show is how Val spent her Folk Alliance. You’ll be hearing Amy Speace and John Fullbright, Kris Drever, Rum Ragged, Armagh Rhymers, Bruce Molsky, Anonymous 4 and Bruce Molsky, Anna Ekborg, The Small Glories, Memphissippi Sounds, Little Misty, and Les Rats d’Swompe.

But first – as an appetizer to our show – two songs used to devastating effect in the last episode of The English, a reimagining of the Western, by Hugo Black and the BBC, with Emily Blunt as Lady Cornelia Locke and Chaske Spencer as Pawnee scout Sgt. Eli Whipp (Wounded Wolf).
