We at Art of the Song are sad to learn that Canadian singer-songwriter-rancher, Ian Tyson passed away on December 29, 2022 at the age of 89. Ian joined forces with Sylvia Fricker to form the renowned 1960s folk duo Ian and Sylvia. The two later married. Ian wrote their classic songs Four Strong Winds and Someday Soon, the latter of which was also recorded by Judy Collins. After Ian and Sylvia split up in 1975 Ian moved to a ranch in southern Alberta to train horses. With the albums Old Corrals and Sagebrush and Cowboyography, Ian Tyson found a true calling writing songs about the ranching life.
