Iowa History According to the Meskwaki Native Americans

On this episode of Sprouts, we hear about the Meskwaki Native American Tribe in Iowa and their history in the state and with the european settlers. The Meskwaki have a unique story. They were the one of the first tribes to be able to purchase and own land due to an unprecedented act passed by the Iowa Legislature in 1851. They also built an open and collaborative relationship with the european settlers that was atypical at the time. We hear an interview by Ursula Ruedenburg from KHOI with Jonathan Buffalo
