Following his death Dec. 29th, 2024, President Jimmy Carter received many accolades for hisĀ achievements, including for the 1978 Camp David peace agreement between Israel and Egypt that he brokered. However, little attention has been given to President Carter’s efforts to make peace between Israelis and the Palestinians. An international human rights lawyer and the executive director of Friends of Sabeel North America (FOSNA), a Christian Palestinian organization seeking peace in the Holy Land, Jonathan Kuttab met Carter on several occasions. He talks aboutCarter’s advocacy for Palestinians, the reaction to Carter’s 2006 book “Palestine: Peace not Apartheid,” which warned that Israel was becoming an apartheid state, Carter’s meeting with Hamas leaders, and his criticisms of the pro-Israel lobby in the United States.
