We have heard much praise for the programs like Combat, NOVA, and the proactive nature of our local justice system and the effect it has had on crime and the murder rate. Is it all good policing and prosecuting or is there something else going on here?
Are people awaiting trial really held in custody 6, 8, 10 months and more. Do they have access to the tools needed to defend themselves? Are defense lawyers willing and able to actually conduct a vigorous defense in Jackson County or do they feel pressured to pressure their clients into a plea deal?
