What Is The KCPD’s Crisis Intervention Team All About?

The Kansas City Police Department had a meet the public gathering at Palestine Baptist Church back in December. JoJR was there and met some officers that we thought the public should get to know. The Crisis Intervention Team works with officers that have had traumatic experiences or may be experiencing PTSD. We will find out about how officers are evaluated after traumatic experiences and if there are any specific evaluations they must take to join the force.

Host Melvin Merritt talks with Captain Brad Deichler, of the KCPD CIT. Captain Deichler was in charge of CIT but has moved over to recruitment not too long ago so he should be able to talk to requirements for applying to the police academy as well.

Ron Brooks – A Look Back At What He Learned As Pastor Of Grand Ave, Temple

Pastor Ron Brooks learned a lot during his time at Grand Ave. Temple. He also got to know and love his parishioners and they him. Serving the poor and homeless gives one a unique perspective on not only society’s misaligned priorities but what one has been granted personally. We will see how Pastor Ron is handling retirement and what his wife has him doing now that he is around more.
