Kansas City Star national political reporter Daniel Desrochers discusses the race to replace Republican Jacob LaTurner as representing KS-02 in the US House. The ballot includes Republican Derek Schmidt, Democrat Nancy Boyda, and Libertarian John Hauer; LaTurner decided not to seek reelection. Both Schmidt and Boyda have previously held high-profile offices and are well-known nationally and in the District. KS-02 includes much of eastern Kansas outside of Douglas, Johnson and Wyandotte counties.
Cindy Holscher, a Democrat, is running for reelection to represent Kansas state Senate district 8 in Topeka. She is being challenged by Republican Benee’ Hudson.
