Radio Active Magazine
A locally produced program where activist groups in the Kansas City area present interviews, commentary, editorials, and other thought provoking content on a weekly basis.
Roughly half of Radio Active Magazine broadcasts are being distributed as the Media & Democracy show syndicated for the Pacifica Radio Network.
This Media & Democracy series began in 2021 but lay fallow after two episodes until Radio Active Magazine regular Spencer Graves began interviewing experts on the rise of political polarization and violence in the US and internationally. The series is now fortnightly. Videos are available on Wikiversity under “Category:Media reform to improve democracy“, inviting interested people to joint the discussion while writing from a neutral point of view, citing credible sources, and treating others with respect. Graves is interviewed by Radio Active Magazine regular Craig Lubow. These interviews also include discussion of what both ordinary citizens and public officials can do to combat this increase in political polarization and violence.
The September 11 episode of “Sprouts: Radio from the Grassroots” features excerpts from four of the interviews in this series.
