M&V with a mailbag show

So today we bring you a collection of music that’s come into the house recently, and we’re skewing the show Celtic, because we haven’t brought you a heavily Celtic show recently.

But we kick off with Playing for Change, a wonderfully named organization dedicated to the proposition that music can overpower national boundaries and help create a just world.  We follow them with a topical song from John Prine who passed away April 7 of this year, one of the many Coronavirus victims.  And end the segment with commentary from Lula Wiles and Laura Nyro.

Then we mix the old and new and hear from Gordon Bock, Neil and Jim Band, and Frank and Allie Lee.

Following which we’re off and running with the Celtic block: Mike McGoldrick, John McCusker & John Doyle; Kevin Meehan; The Black Brothers (Shay & Michael); Julie Fowlis, Zoe Conway, Eamon Dooley, John McIntyre; Caoimhin O Raghallaigh (who plays a 10 string fiddle); Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh; Jim and Susie Malcolm; New Leaf; Kevin Crawford, Dylan Foley & Patrick Doocey; Jimmy Crowley & Stockers Lodge; Connla; and end with Benny McCarthy.
