Native Spirit provides Native American music from across the country. From Powwow music to Native American Church, traditional songs from different tribes, to contemporary style like Rock, Country, Blues, and Country. Native people are producing a lot of music and this show is one of the few they can get showcased on.
Rhonda LeValdo reports on the Sacred Stone and Red Warrior camp on the Standing Rock Reservation and their efforts to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline. As the Fort Belknap contingent came in Friday night into camp, their President Mark Azure and several others spoke of the reason they came to North Dakota from Montana. Phylis Davis from the Gun Lake tribe in Minnesota and Ricardo Cate, Santo Domingo Pueblo also talk about the pipeline issue. Marei Spaola, Oglala Lakota and John Judd, Choctaw/Kiowa also talk about the use of dogs and mace during the confrontation with the pipeline workers on Saturday where some were attacked by the dogs and others maced.
