July is a month of patriotism in North and South America. July 1st. the most northern among us celebrated Canada Day; July 4th Independence Day here in our country; and in Latin America Independence Day for Argentina (July 9 1816); Colombia (July 20th 1819) Peru (July 28 1811) and Venezuela (July 5th 1811).
The show explores the native instruments, languages and traditions played in 22 countries and one territory. Other than Spanish and Portuguese, Nuestra Musica presents songs in the following languages: Quechua, Mapuche, Guarani, Nahuatl, Gallego, Spanish Basque, and Catalan.
Among many styles we present: Tango, Chacarera, Baguala, Zamba with a Z and Samba with an S, Bossa Nova, Cumbia, Llanero, Vallenato, Merengue, Parrandera, Son, Bolero, Ranchera, Corrido, Marimba, Fado, Flamenco, Sevillanas, Jota, Blues, Jazz, Danzon, and Mambo.
