Nuestra Musica pays homage to African American Music Appreciation Month

This annual celebration of African American music in the United States, was initiated as Black Music Month by Jimmy Carter on June 7, 1979.  In 2009 President Barack Obama gave the current name African American Music Appreciation Month. Today we are presenting our own tribute to African American music with African Latinx artist from Peru, Uruguay, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Portugal, Cape Verde and Brazil.

Among many styles we present: Tango, Chacarera, Baguala, Zamba with a, “Z,” and Samba with an, “S,” Bossa Nova, Cumbia, Llanero, Vallenato, Merengue, Parrandera, Son, Bolero, Ranchera, Corrido, Marimba, Fado, Flamenco, Sevillanas, Jota, Blues, Jazz, Danzon, and Mambo.
