ON EXPLORATIONS – Are we depleting the oceans? Also, the late Oliver Sacks talks about why we are moved by music. Is it evolutionary?

On Explorations this week Dr. Michio Kaku speaks with biologist Callum Roberts about our oceans. He is the author of two award-winning books, The Unnatural History of the Sea (Rachel Carson Award, 2007), which examined the impact of human activity and fishing on marine ecosystems over the last thousand years, and Ocean of Life (Mountbatten Award, 2013), which covers more recent changes in the ocean and proposes reforms to facilitate their recovery. His latest book is Reef Life: An Underwater Memoir (2019).  He thinks we take our oceans for granted.  He knows the history; now oceans are depleted.

Next, Michio Kaku speaks with the late Oliver Sacks, author of Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain. We take it for granted that everyone loves music, what is the purpose of music anyway?
