ON EXPLORATIONS – Good Germans, when scientists work on weapons of mass destruction

On this episode, the talk is about the controversial issue of what happens when scientists create evil despite having good intentions?

In the first half hour, Dr. Michio Kaku speaks with his guest, Michael J. Neufeld, Curator and space historian at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum, author of Von Braun: Dreamer of Space, Engineer of War.  Von Braun created great rocketry and helped propel us to the moon.  Sadly, he also created rockets that destroyed lives.

During the second half of the hour, Michio Kaku will speak with Daniel Charles, Master Mind: The Rise and Fall of Fritz Haber, the Nobel Laureate Who Launched the Age of Chemical Warfare.  Haber was a major in the creation of the Green Revolution, which was responsible for feeding the world.  Unfortunately, he also made poison gas that was used to kill his relatives.

Exploration is an hour-long radio program on science, technology, politics, and the environment. Topics covered include black holes, time travel, higher dimensions, string theory, wormholes, search for extra-terrestrial life, dark matter and dark energy, the future of space travel, genetic engineering, the aging process, the future of medicine, the human body shop, artificial intelligence, the future of computers and robots, as well as topics from science fiction.
