ON EXPLORATIONS – Michio Kaku responds to emails; Prof. Greg Stock of UCLA discusses the future of gene manipulation: for good or bad?

On Explorations this week Dr. Michio Kaku begins his hour talking in response to his emails, including whether movies are providing us a clear scientific interpretation of our past, present and future.  For example, Dr. Kaku will talk about Imitation Game.  Is it the true story of Alan Turing, British mathematician, logician, and philosopher who is widely considered the father of computer science and artificial intelligence. Kaku will also discuss the Theory of Everything, a movie about Stephen Hawking, an English cosmologist, theoretical physicist, and author who revolutionized our understanding of the universe. Hawking is known for his work on black holes, including discovering their entropy and finite temperature, and formulating the Hawking area theorem, also known as the laws of black hole mechanics.  That said, how can there be a theory of everything?  Is everything nothing?

Next, Michio Kaku speaks with UCLA Professor Greg Stock, an American biophysicist, and author of Redesigning Humans. Using genetic engineering on humans, how far should we go?

Exploration is an hour-long radio program on science, technology, politics, and the environment. Topics covered include black holes, time travel, higher dimensions, string theory, wormholes, search for extra-terrestrial life, dark matter and dark energy, the future of space travel, genetic engineering, the aging process, the future of medicine, the human body shop, artificial intelligence, the future of computers and robots, as well as topics from science fiction.
