Palestinian Activists’ Use of Smartphone Video

pid_31376.jpg (100×150)Rebecca Stein, Associate Professor of anthropology at Duke University and author of Screen Shots: State Violence on Camera in Israel and Palestine gives an overview of how cameras have been used in the Occupied Territories since 2014, from basic camcorders to smartphones. Three communities have pinned their hopes on making the recordings support their narratives: the IDF, the settlers, and the Palestinians. Stein explains why those hopes have not been fully realized.
