Radical Views from the Global South

The concept of Global North and Global South are not geographical terms but rather describe a grouping of countries along economic lines. The Global South, previously called the Third World, is a term used to identify lower-income countries on one side of the so-called divide, the other side being the countries of the Global North with its enormous wealth and its institutions of power and control: the WTO, the IMF and the World Bank.

On our December 8th show, our speaker will be Vijay Prashad who is a historian, journalist and educator. He was a professor of international studies at Trinity College in Connecticut for many years. He is the director of Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research, based in Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, and India.
