Radio Mama Uganda – Part 1

The Uganda Media Women’s Association took a giant leap to establish Africa’s first women’s radio station in 2001. In this interview from 2010, the Executive Director and station founder Margaret Sentamu tells all about how the community station operates, including its relationship with a rural women’s empowerment project and Radio Listening Clubs that teach women to examine government critically and speak up for correct practices. The station is still active in 2019. An updated program on the station with many volunteer voices follows next week.
