OLIVIA HILL- I am a writer, storyteller, artist, and chef. In 2022 I completed my most recent project, publishing my memoir, Travel North Black Girl. This story explores my journey of growing up in Kansas City, MO in an abusive environment, to getting married at a young age and traveling to an indigenous village in Alaska. Learn more about my memoir and where you can order your own.
Travel North Black Girl

I am a published short-story author and playwright. Four of my plays have been produced and performed in over five states, including New York and Washington, DC. I had the pleasure of being the recipient of the Lorraine Hansberry Award for my play, “Mother Spense” and a runner-up for my play, “The Price of Bail” at the Kennedy Center Regional Festival. As a visual artist, I have specialized in printmaking and watercolor and exhibited in multiple galleries. I am always open to share on topics that are close to my experience and heart. I have spoken on trauma, childhood abuse, and the importance of therapy and healing. I speak to the importance of Black stories in all their forms. As a Black woman, I have faced many barriers but it has made me a lifelong advocate for the vulnerable and unheard. www.oliviahillwrites.com

THOMAS SCIACCA – Sideshow Serenade was started in 2013, in connection with Rock Candy Vintage (currently located in River Market Antiques). The imagery focused on historical Circus Sideshow performers. I continued to make images past the initial show with Rock Candy. Once I posted the works on social media, I received many requests from current day performers- for poster and banner designs. By now, the series is still approached in the same 2 level way…historical and current day performers and attractions. This current Print Show, is being held at The Kansas City Center for The Ink and Paper Arts (basement of the Hobbs Building). The Center was started and is overseen by Paul Tosh and Calvert Guthrie. It offers a range of old school printing presses, and expert guidance. The place itself is like a museum, filled with printing apparatus, some of which dates back to the 1800’s. A hidden jewel, in my opinion.
My background is in editorial illustration, college level art education, scenic design and painting for theatre, gallery artist, Circus/Sideshow promotional artist.
