Report Of Migrant Caravan On Its Way To USA

The Viacrucis del Migrante, also known as the Central American migrant caravan, are annual migrant caravans of Central Americans organized by Pueblo Sin Fronteras. Viacrucis caravans have usually been organized since 2010 by the migrants themselves, who set off during Holy Week.  The Trump administration is responding with threats and rhetoric trying to get the Mexican government to stop them and convince the caravaners to turn around.

Host David Bell talks with Rekha Sharma-Crawford about the Flores Settlement that settled the treatment of children caught in the struggle for immigration and explains what the new administration is trying to do to change the agreement.

Rekha Sharma-Crawford is a frequent instructor at the American Immigration Law Foundation Litigation Institute and speaker at the American Immigration Lawyers’ Association national conference.  She has also spoken at a variety of seminars about immigration law locally at the Johnson County Bar Association, Kansas Bar Association, and Kansas and Missouri Public Defenders. In 2018, the Kansas Bar Association honored Rekha with the Courageous Attorney Award, an award presented from time to time to attorneys who have displayed exceptional courage in the face of adversity; thus bringing credit to the legal profession.

Corey’s Network invites survivors of murder to their weekly workshops to learn how to deal with grief, the media, investigation, court, and moving forward after a homicide has occurred. This is a workshop, not a grief group. We will be having guest speakers, and will candidly discuss how to survive and thrive after losing someone we love. You should bring something to take notes with and please include only those individuals mature enough in age to deal with issues being covered during the meeting. The next workshop, Beginning the Journey, will be held Monday, October 22nd from 6 to 8 PM at the Church of the Four Corners, 14300 E. US HWY 40, KCMO. The church is located East of the HyVee at 40 Hwy and Noland Rd. For more information and listing of future workshops call 816-834-9161 or email [email protected]

One of the keys to ending commercial sexual exploitation is to end the demand for the commodification of women and children. To end this demand, Veronica’s Voice has put together a male focus group to help us write a curriculum that we will teach men about healthy masculinity and offer on-going support to the men who want to continue in this journey. However, we are constantly seeking to add men from various ages, ethnicity, social classes, educational backgrounds, faith perspectives, sexual identities, and life experiences. If you would like to be a candidate for this focus group, please send an email to [email protected]
