River City Chautauqua: Culture from Around the World

Our guests on this month’s River City Chautauqua will discuss some of what they have learned about other cultures through their studies and careers. Patrick Alonzo Conway is a percussionist, wind player and composer who has studied with noted master drummers from around the world. He currently is director of the community Balinese gamelan orchestra Gamel Genta Kasturi. We will hear some of his latest work, “Samvartaka” , which was written for and premiered at the Folly Theater for Charlotte Street’s 20th Anniversary. We also welcome contributor Kristy Blomquist. She will be interviewing Carrah Quigley,  an international speaker and meditation and yoga instructor in the Kansas City area. She will be talking with us about her time spent in Dublin and Belfast as she worked on her Master’s in Ecumenics at Trinity College in Dublin. Carrah was a featured speaker at the 2018 Parliament of World’s Religions.
