River Trade Radio is an on-air radio program dedicated to the song trade routes that flow through Kansas City. Featuring Real! Live! Touring and local guests in-studio, as well as hand-selected music from our own collections of Americana, Folk, Blues, Bluegrass, Roots, Country, World, Jazz and more.
River Trade Radio airs every Sunday morning from 9-11am (CST) on KKFI 90.1 FM Kansas City Community Radio. GUESTS The Yellow-Bellied Sapsuckers & OLIVIA FOX!9:30am – The Yellow-Bellied Sapsuckers perform original songs and tunes inspired by the classic hillbilly, country-duo, and old-time musical traditions–and also mines this same repertoire for forgotten gems that deserve to be heard again. Based in Soldiers Grove, WI, the Sapsuckers (Nikki Grossman, guitar, fiddle, and vocals; Joe Hart, guitar, mandolin, and vocals) perform frequent concerts, as well as square and contra dances, and they are known for the light touch and sense of humor they bring to their performance.

10:15am – Based out of Kansas City, MO, three young ladies join together to become OLIVIA FOX. This trio consists of Lauren Flynn, Tiffany Smith and Aubrey Callahan. They call their sound Folk/Pop with its unique marriage between classic folk instrumentation, vocals, and harmonies to modern programmed beats and synth pads. Their music is emotional and builds a foundation of tension and relief while the lyrics are honest, deep, and heart wrenching at times. All three members of OVFX sing and play multiple instruments that vary depending on the song. OLIVIA FOX is a fresh interpretation of a timeless sound.
