Ryan A. Sorrell, Co-founder & Editor-in-Chief the Kansas City Defender, a nonprofit digital startup producing news, digital tools and public services for Black people across the mid-west joins in discussion.

The Kansas City Defender’s primary areas of focus are education, justice, business, arts, culture, and technology. It intends be a “digitally engaged news platform”.  Its mission is to employ social media to consistently deliver important news and essential information to the Black community in Missouri and Kansas. It aims to increase civic participation among young people by providing the knowledge, contextual reporting, and analysis necessary to make positive change in the community.

The Defender views itself as part of the Hod, not dis-attached or separate from it, and utilizes its journalism for advocacy and to uplift Black people.  https://kansascitydefender.com/
