Mark plays New Releases, and area bands nominated for Pitch Music Awards, (Sunday, August 12, at The Uptown Theatre). We’ll hear tracks from: The Sea and Cake, Grizzly Bear, Ghosty, Power and Light, Hipshot Killer, Fourth of July, The ACB’s, The Roseline, Rumblejetts, The I’ms, Quixotic Fusion, Sinple, Ponyboy. and Icky Blossoms. We’ll also play music from The Smiths, Wanda Jackson & The Cramps, and War.
At 10:30 Experimental electronic musical artist, Sinple, (also known as Jesse Bartmess) will play LIVE in our 90.1 FM Studios. We’ll talk about Sinple opening for the Portland bands: Au, and Tu Fawning, Wednesday Night, August 8, at the recordbar, 1020 Westport Rd. Doors open a t 9:00 PM.
At 11:10 Mark talks with writer, Crystal Boson, a PhD student in American Studies at the University of Kansas. Crystal holds both a B.A and M.A in English Literature, from the University of Missouri and Texas A&M University. Crystal’s new poetry collection: “The Queer Texas Prayerbook,” will be released this fall by Seven Kitchens Press, Her precious work has been published in Callaloo, Pank, the Black Bottom, and in an anthology of Queer Midwestern Writers. Crystal currently resides in Lawrence, KS.
At 11:30 Mark talks with Charles S. McVey about “Pussy Killer” the new musical release from his band, Ponyboy. “Pussy Killer” is described as, “a forty-minute slugfest concerning the strange case of ‘Canadian Cannibal’ Luka Magnotta and the impact sensationalized violent crime has on our culture.” Ponyboy. is a two piece, grunge band from Lawrence, Kansas, with Charles S. McVey on bass and vocals and David Zey on drums. The duo focus their energy into creating in-your-face music that deals with the darker side of life.
