Tasty Brew featuring Radney Foster and saying Bon Voyage to Mike Kelly

As a young musician straight out of Texas, Radney Foster spent the lengthy drives in between tour stops reading the likes of John Steinbeck, Larry McMurtry, and Harper Lee. Over 30 years of artist cuts later, there is no question that he himself is an established storyteller. Whether it’s navigating the ever-changing music industry or battling a sudden, terrifying illness – Foster definitely has a story to tell.  Tasty Brew Music Host Diana Linn is travelling to New Mexico soon for a special songwriter’s retreat headlining Foster and has plans to have a sit down conversation with him for her Tasty Brew Music Podcast.

Initially a songwriter in Nashville, Tennessee, Foster made his recording debut as part of the Foster & Lloyd duo, recording three studio albums and with nine singles on the country charts. Foster began his solo career in 1992 and his album Del Rio, TX 1959 produced four consecutive Top 40 hits.  Diana Linn discovered Radney on an early 2000’s compilation CD from KGSR Radio (Austin, TX).  This week’s playlist includes original works by Radney and other artists covering him like Jack Ingram and The Dixie Chicks.

Also on this week’s show, long time music supporter Mike Kelly joins Diana Linn for a Guest DJ spot.  Kelly is leaving Kansas City to pursue a career opportunity in Delaware.  Mike and wife Teri are epic supporters of live music in Kansas City and have hosted wonderful house concerts with the likes of Sky Smeed, Danielle At the Sandwich, The Matchsellers and many more that you will hear on this week’s Tasty Brew!  This is Bon Voyage to the Kellys and not goodbye….they’ll be back some day but the Kansas City music scene will miss them terribly!
