The Tasty Brew
“The Tasty Brew” is an eclectic mix of roots music formed by the shared and varied traditions that make up the American musical melting pot.
Kansas City has got it going on in Roots Music and Diana Linn, Host of the Tasty Brew Music Radio Show on Tuesday Mornings 6-8 am, is in the thick of it! This week she welcomes Toney Rocks of Las Vegas to Kansas City radio audiences in the 7 am hour. His sound is an Americana mixture of country, blues and rock with engaging songwriting. Currently touring the United States in support of his new album, DRIFTING, releasing worldwide August 1, 2018, Toney is performing solo concerts as well as supporting artists such as blues/jazz/rock guitar legend, Robben Ford. He is also making appearances at music festivals like Florida Folk Festival, Logan Summerfest and The Planet Festival. His latest single releases, “Run to the Night” & “Not Gonna Run”, are featured on popular music blogs and radio shows around the world including The Tasty Brew. Kathy Forste, Music Director of KC Cafe Radio said, “Toney Rocks’ voice is cool and sweet, rocking and lyrical. His songs are thoughtful and hummable…”. Toney has shared the stage with folk music legend, David Bromberg, as well as opened for acclaimed blues artists such as Corey Harris and Jarekus Singleton. He will be appearing in Lawrence, KS Friday night June 22 at 9pm at the Jackpot Music Hall.
Host Diana Linn will also be sharing a pre-recorded conversation she recently had with Darrin Vincent, Grammy award winner, member of the Grand Ole Opry and musical partner of Jamie Vincent performing as Dailey & Vincent. The duo will be appearing in Kansas City with Country artist Lee Greenwood in Red White and Bluegrass at The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts at 7 pm on Sunday July 1.
Also scheduled to appear is frequent KKFI guest dj and zydeco artist Ernest James, to give Brewheads the 411 on this week’s Kansas City Kansas Street Blues Festival taking place Saturday June 23 from 2 to 11 pm at Lavender’s Circle L Ranch.
And it’s LSD week in Kansas City….as in Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle and Dwight Yoakam bringing their smash hit tour to Kansas City Thursday June 21 at Starlight Theater.
