WINGS: Women's International News Gathering Service is an all-woman independent radio production company that produces and distributes news and current affairs programs by and about women around the world.
In these next three WINGS programs, you hear the entire play The Second Coming of Joan of Arc, as performed by its author, Carolyn Gage, in 1996, at June Millington’s Institute for the Musical Arts. Author interview ends 3rd episode.
About the play:
In 1431, a 19-year-old French girl named Jeanne Rome was burned at the stake. Her story has frequently been re-told, but this version convincingly portrays her as a young butch lesbian who only when it’s too late understands the total ingratitude of the patriarchy.
