The Tenth Voice (LGBTQIA)
The Tenth Voice is the Kansas City area's only weekly broadcast created by and for LGBTQIA+ people in our community in the Greater Kansas City area and around the world online. Listeners can tune in each Saturday at 1:00 PM. Each week our team of hosts and producers present interviews, information, music, news and features especially important to Lesbians, Gay Men, Bisexuals, Transgender & Nonbinary people, Queer, Intersex, Asexual & Aromantic people and Allied collective communities. Since 1989, The Tenth Voice radio show has documented and informed the LGBTQIA+ Kansas City Community.
We are proud to announce a brand new host and a new show on The Tenth Voice, Generation T, featuring TJ Burton. TJ (he/him) is a FTM trans man based in Kansas City. Pre pandemic, he worked primarily in theatre as a stage manager and electrician. Now, TJ works in healthcare full time. TJ received his BFA from a Stephens College in 2017. He is passionate about advocacy, healthcare, and trans rights.
This week TJ’s special guest is Josie Phillips (she/her), who graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2020 and currently works in public policy.
TJ and Josie will delve into the intricacies of navigating higher education while transitioning, and their varied experiences as openly trans individuals in academic settings, women’s spaces, co-ed spaces, and general college nonsense. Josie and TJ graduated from high school together in St. Charles, MO, and TJ graduated with his BFA in Technical Theatre from a private Women’s college in 2017.
